One of the United Kingdom’s top country estate, The Newt in Somerset, recently announced a garden membership program with New York’s Brooklyn Botanic Garden. The new relationship adds to The Newt’s partnerships with gardens across the Atlantic, connecting Somerset’s working estates with one of New York’s most beautiful green spaces.

For the foreseeable future, BBG members receive complimentary access to The Newt’s estate with their membership card, which opens up Somerset’s award-winning gardens, orchards and woodland to Brooklyn’s gardening community. Alternatively, when The Newt’s members are in Brooklyn, they can enjoy access to BBG.

“Gardening has never thrived in isolation – every great garden around the world is shaped by the ones that came before it and the people tending them elsewhere. It’s a joy to connect with Brooklyn Botanic Garden in this way, and there’s real inspiration to be found in what they’re doing on their side of the pond,” said Harry Baldwin, head gardener, The Newt in Somerset.

With its beautiful gardens in the southwest region of England, The Newt in Somerset boasts beautiful main gardens; the Four Seasons Garden; and Story of Gardening museum, highlighting designs of different gardens.

Visitors don’t have to be guests of the hotel to enjoy the gardens; daytrippers from London can visit the gardens aboard the Great Garden Escape for a quick trip.
