Social media makes it easier to directly book travel, such as hotels, flights and excursions promoted by various travel companies. One such example can be found by scrolling through Instagram and spotting a new feature from European discount airline easyJet.
Known for its bright orange planes and reasonable fares, easyJet launched a new feature called Look&Book that allows social media scrollers to book flights directly from apps such as Instagram. To take advantage of this feature, Instagram users must have both the Instagram and easyJet apps downloaded to their iOS device. When Instagrammers see a photo that inspires a trip somewhere, they can screenshot it and upload to easyJet’s Look&Book feature. Geolocation technology will scan the image and reveal the location of the photo. From this map image, users can enter their home airport and browse flights to the destination based on chosen dates.
EasyJet is the first airline to offer such booking capabilities, but it’s conceivable other airlines will quickly follow suit.
