Dubai Duty Free announced the donation of DHS 3 million to the Ramadan Reading Nation campaign, which aims to provide 5 million books for children in refugee camps and underprivileged schools worldwide. The campaign was created by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice president and prime minister, the United Arab Emirates, and Ruler of Dubai. “This first-of-its-kind Ramadan campaign complements the previous initiatives launched by His Highness over the past years and conveys a message of benevolence and peace from the United Arab Emirates to the world during the Holy Month of Ramadan. We are honored to partner with his campaign in line with our commitment to social responsibility principles that contribute to the United Arab Emirate’s goal of extending a helping hand to those less fortunate — no matter where they live and who they may be,” said Colm McLoughlin, executive vice chairman and CEO, Dubai Duty Free. The campaign will continue throughout the 19^th day of Ramadan, also the Emirati Humanitarian Work Day. Approximately 2 million books provided go to refugee camps. Another 2 million will go to 2,000 newly built Islamic libraries worldwide. The remaining 1 million will go to the Emirati Humanitarian Organisation’s foreign education program.
