Delta Air Lines is currently testing an innovative new feature in Washington, D.C. (DCA). Five interactive digital screens are now placed at a Delta Sky Assist station, allowing customers to video chat with specialists right from the airport. The innovation is a first for U.S. airlines. Usage is simple: Travelers simply pick up a telephone receiver and touch the screen to begin chatting.

“More and more people are choosing video chat to connect in their everyday lives, so we wanted to bring that channel to Delta customers. We have the best specialists in the business — and now, they’ll be able to deliver customer solutions in an even more personal, face-to-face way,” said Charisse Evans, vice president, reservations sales and customer care, Delta Air Lines.

Once off the ground, customers are treated to upgraded TUMI amenity kits in the Delta One cabin, starting today. Now, customers have the ability to monogram a patch on the front of the case, another first in the airline world. New amenities include a hand cleanser, mouthwash stick and TUMI eyeshades, plus updated striped socks.

“Every detail incorporated into our TUMI amenity kit has been thoughtfully selected with our customers’ needs and preferences in mind — no matter how big or small. We are excited to offer customers the ability to monogram their amenity kits and create a personalized souvenir to take with them as they jetset across the globe,” said Allison Ausband, senior vice president, in-flight service, Delta Air Lines.

The kits are available on Delta One flights; outbound passengers from the United States receive a silver hard-sided kit, while inbound passengers to the United States receive a black soft-sided kit.
