Delta Air Lines’ internal meteorology team is gearing up to launch an all-new tool to track and disseminate weather forecasts.

According to Delta, the new tool will allow meteorologists to track advancing weather data in a centralized location to better inform operations teams of the impact irregular weather patterns have on operations.

The new tool will allow Delta’s weather teams to collect and manage data as it comes in from all over the planet. Combined with easier-to-read consolidation, color charts and legends for precipitation, cloud height and more, the new tool will allow Delta meteorologists to keep a closer eye than ever before on the weather impacting Delta hubs and destinations around the world.

“The Weather Information Tool will be a game changer for Delta and the Meteorology team,” said Stephanie Klipfel, meteorology manager, Delta Air Lines. “It will give us enhanced forecasting capabilities through concise, synchronized weather information which will allow the airline to make more precise predictions, increase safety and minimize potential delays for our customers.”

In the future, Delta plans to expand the tool to incorporate real-time weather and airport-specific information.
