Braised short rib tacos. Dixie pan-fried chicken. Fresh mozzarella, vine-ripe tomato and basil Caprese salad. Cool, sweet tiramisu.
Dinner in downtown Phoenix? Maybe — but now these mouth-watering dishes will also be available at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. With more than 40 new restaurants opening throughout 2013 — from grab-and-go goodies to gourmet meals — the airport’s busiest terminal will cater to travelers’ needs with an unprecedented level of culinary expertise.
Leading food and beverage operators HMSHost International and SSP America, Inc., are bringing the diverse culinary arts of Phoenix’s most celebrated restaurants, coffee houses, pizza parlors, bakeries, breweries, taquerias and wine bars to pre- and post-security areas of Terminal 4. The selection strikes a balance of local, regional and national brands and, good news for customers, the restaurants will operate on the concept of street pricing.
Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton wants visitors to know what Phoenix is all about. “Soon they’ll be able to taste it,” he said. “They’ll know that our city and our airport support our local businesses, and that Phoenix is an epicenter of high-quality, modern and authentic dining.”
From Cowboy Ciao’s unique Italian/Southwestern fusion and La Madeleine’s French countryside cuisine to Humble Pie’s wood-fired pizza and the American comfort food of Chelsea’s Kitchen, the diverse options are sure to please the 40 million travelers who pass through Sky Harbor each year.

Mar 28, 2024Cruise Lines Elevate the Onboard Fine-Dining Experience
It’s been a long time since the food on cruise ships resembled the bland, uninspired fare that gave onboard dining a bad name. These days, cruise passengers can look forward to menus created by Michelin-starred chefs made with top-quality ingredients served in stunning spaces. Choices abound as well. In addition to elegant main dining rooms, cruise ships have created a huge array of specialty restaurants that focus not only on perfectly executed traditional European and North American dishes but flavors and experiences from around the globe as well. In fact, meals served aboard cruise vessels have gotten so good, they’re drawing passengers onto ships: According to a recent report by luxury travel planning network Virtuoso, advisors report after Europe (specifically Italy and France), the No. 2 dining destination for travelers is aboard an ocean or river cruise. “This shows how cruise lines have really stepped up their culinary game, with consulting chefs and new restaurants and making that a focal point,” said Misty Belles, vice president, Global Public Relations, Virtuoso.
