In celebration of its centennial year of operation, British Airways recently released a collection of exclusive photographs and videos from the last 100 years. Centenary Archive Collection, available on the dedicated centenary site, includes an interactive timeline and records of memorable moments in history, such as Concorde flights and royal flights.

British Airways’ first international flight took place in August 1919, carrying one journalist, Devonshire cream and two grouse. Now, British Airways transports more than 45 million customers each year to more than 200 destinations.

“Air travel has always been about connecting people around the world, and this website will share the stories, achievements and memories of 100 years of British Airways history,” said Alex Cruz, chairman and CEO, British Airways. “Since 1919, British Airways and its forerunners pioneered commercial air travel, and our Centenary Archive Collection will continue to evolve as we look forward to the next 100 years of aviation.”

The collection is slated to expand further in the coming months. In addition to photos and video, written recollections from British Airways staff and colleagues are planned.

As British Airways looks to the future, it invested £6.5 billion in customer improvement projects. Enhancements include WiFi at every seat, new interiors on long-haul aircraft, acceptance of 72 new aircraft and new business-class seats.
