Just in time for summer in Montauk, new boutique Hotel Corduroy has opened its doors, marking the first New York-based hotel from Blue Flag Capital. Celebrating the area’s surf traditions and maritime spirit, the 29-room property occupies former Sunset Montauk, originally built in 1983. Interior design firm Ward + Gray fashioned inviting spaces delivering a heightened sense of design and warmth, while the architectural character of all three original buildings has been preserved and elevated by the creative forces at Workshop/APD.

“We’ve always felt Montauk stands apart from the rest of the Hamptons with its independent, laid-back, and free-spirited energy, and that’s exactly what we set out to capture with Hotel Corduroy,” said Eric Freitas Orford, managing director, New York. “Drawing inspiration from the town’s creative surf culture and strong sense of community, the property was designed as a place where guests can come together, settle in and feel at home,”

The new, sun-faded color palette; layered textures; and nods toward a retro, 1960s coastal vibe set the stage for quietly elegant spaces and vintage accents. The lobby, fashioned as a living room, invites connection and conversation. There’s also a retail shop featuring clothing brands including Faherty.

Developed with in-house management firm Collared Martin Hospitality, Hotel Corduroy features the Lawn, an outdoor zone where guests can enjoy fresh sea air while relaxing on sofas and loungers. Guests can also set off to explore the town on hotel bicycles, and enjoy complimentary beach gear and private access to an area of Sunset Beach.
