This past weekend I spent two nights in Greenport, Long Island. The historic seaport is located on Long Island’s North Fork. I was in town for a wedding and was lucky enough to have plenty of time to explore the quaint town. We arrived on Friday afternoon via the Hampton Jitney, a convenient mode of transportation for New Yorkers. After dropping off our bags at our VRBO, we made our way to Claudio’s Crabby Jerry’s. Located on the waterfront, we had a light late lunch of mussels and baked stuffed clams. Both dishes tasted very fresh and flavorful. We spent the rest of the afternoon exploring the area. Later that evening we stopped by Little Creek Oyster Farm & Market. Looking at the menu, we opted to shuck our own oysters for about half the price. Our waitress brought us all the proper tools and gave us a brief lesson. It turns out, I’m a natural!

Saturday we started our day with a jog around the waterfront. It was the perfect way to see more of Greenport. For brunch we dined at Bruce’s Cheese Emporium. There were many great menu options — too many, in fact. I had trouble choosing my meal before finally settling on a smoked salmon omelet. I had slight food envy as I watched the other delicious dishes arrive at our table. I only wished my stay was long enough to return for another meal. We made one last stop before the wedding at Kontokosta Winery. Opened in 2013, the picturesque winery features a tasting room open daily. My first visit to Greenport was a memorable one, filled with tasty meals, beautiful scenery and an incredible wedding. I hope to visit the charming town again.
