The Club MDW

The Club MDW, the first passenger lounge at Midway International Airport, is open for business. Last week Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA), Midway Partnership and concessions partners were among dignitaries presiding over a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the grand opening.Midway Airport

Located at Midway’s Central Market, at the intersection of Concourses A and B, The Club MDW is beautiful. It’s relaxing, modern and comfortable, with a strong Chicago flavor. Open to all travelers by purchasing a $50 day pass (4 a.m.–10 p.m.), it is also part of membership in other lounge programs, including Priority Pass and LoungeKey.

At the entrance, three large paintings line the walkway to the check-in desk. Next is a large bar on the left, with seating on the right. A flight information display hangs unobtrusively, but easily found, near the bar. Also on the left and running almost the entire length of the lounge are floor-to-ceiling windows, providing both a view of the airfield and natural light throughout the lounge. Moving along, more seating is on the left ,with a long food station on the right. On the far side of The Club MDW are two private restrooms.Midway Airport Midway Airport Midway Airport Midway Airport Midway Airport

Seating 76, The Club MDW offers a few seat types, all comfortable and within close proximity to outlets. Patrons can sit in groups or have a bit of privacy sitting alone.

The menu continues the emphasis on Chicago with locally sourced cuisine. Craft beers from Revolution Brewing and Two Brothers Brewing and other offerings from KOVAL Distillary, all Chicago-based, highlight the beverage list. The event included a sampling of the menu, which was enjoyed by all.

Part of Midway Partnership’s extensive redevelopment of the concessions program at Midway, The Club MDW joins more than 70 new dining, shopping and service establishments. Together, they elevate the experience and image of the 96-year-old airport. Mayor Johnson summed it up perfecting, stating, “Our commitment to investing in our airports reflects our mission to continue delivering a world-class experience that meets the needs of all travelers.”Midway Airport
