I love a good family tradition to look forward to with each holiday. Mother’s Day is one of those that seems to be different each year, and this one took the cake as everyone’s favorite.

It was a gorgeous day in South Philadelphia watching the Phillies dominate the Colorado Rockies baseball team. Prior to the game my parents, two brothers and I spent the early afternoon tailgating in the adjacent parking lot with other Phillies fans. We played Jenga; threw the football around; listened to tunes; and enjoyed breakfast sandwiches made by the neighborhood’s best bagel shop, Redhouse Bagels.

Upon entering the stadium, women 15 years old and older were given a free Phillies mock-neck sweatshirt as the giveaway for Mother’s Day. Even though it was sunny and 85°, I will be lounging in it all the time once the weather cools down.

I was surprised by my high school’s choir singing the National Anthem on the field. I felt honored to be a Bensalem High School alumni in that moment.

The game was completely stress-free as Kyle Schwarber’s first at bat was a home run, followed by another home run by Bryce Harper. The end score was 6–0. What a great gift for all the moms!
