Because it was a beautiful day yesterday, my friends and I decided to hit the links. As I have previously written, I am not a golfer, nor do I even really like golf, but these links were the novelty type — or miniature golf — at the Bunny Hutch in Lincolnwood, Illinois.

It felt great being outside playing all 18 holes. These 18 holes are a lot more manageable and enjoyable. I only had to carry one putter instead of a bag full of clubs. I also only walked a few hundred feet instead of a few miles. I also managed to get a hole-in-one on two holes. That would never happen on a regulation course. Of course, a standard golf course wouldn’t have a windmill, giant dinosaur or any of the other fun things at every hole.

After we finished two under par for the course, we stepped into the batting cages. I played park league softball for 25 years, and I miss it terribly. There is nothing like making solid contact and driving that ball. I imagine it is the same feeling golfers get on a good drive, but I’ll get far more good softball hits than good golf drives. A couple turns in the cages were good enough to give me that pump and also to relieve stress.

Wanting a little more fun, we went to the game room for an old-school Ms. Pac-Man battle. I’m not as skilled as I was in my college years, but I can still put up a decent score. Unfortunately, I was mostly thumbs as I struggled with Guitar Hero.

Since all of this activity made us hungry, we needed to get food. New this year at the Bunny Hutch is T’s Grand Slam Pizza. A really good veggie burger and fries did the trick.

I’ve been going to the Bunny Hutch since I moved to the area. It’s a great place to have some fun, unwind and be outside without having to search everywhere for the golf ball you sliced into the brush.
