Our good friends at Renaissance Hotels have opened their new boutique hotel in midtown, Hotel 57. Located in Manhattan on Lexington and 57th (only two blocks away from Bloomingdale’s), Hotel 57 is perfectly located for business and leisure. Yesterday, Alex Young and I caught up with our friend and business partner from Renaissance Hotels. We met to get the latest update and tour of the newest New York property. We began with cocktails at Opia Lounge and Bar. Classy and elegant, Opia was designed by Jordan Mozer (as is the rest of the hotel). The menu is by Ted Pryor. The signature theme of the hotel is the apple blossom. Tiny hand-carved brass apple blossoms are scattered throughout the hotel, from the marble floor on the ground level to the mirrors in the elevators. The 200 rooms range from standards to suites. Executive rooms are situated around the conference room, and the suites that take up the 5th floor are part of what was once a carriage house. Each room has a marble bathroom, and Alex and I also made note that every room has a one-shot coffeemaker (in case Fran ever books a stay here). The hotel will be finished this month.
