Florida Fun

by John Wroblewski

Mar 3, 2025

As I wrote in a recent blog, the food on my latest trip to Florida was fantastic. I also enjoyed music, comedy, sports and family.

We relived Beatlemania through Liverpool Live at The Stage. Coming out dressed in early Beatles black suits, they started the show with many of the Fab Four’s first hits and a couple lesser-played tunes. The band took photos with fans before taking a short break. Upon their return in Sgt. Pepper’s long jackets, they belted songs from the middle years. Liverpool Live finished by removing the jackets to reveal clothes reminiscent of the Abbey Road album and singing songs from the later years.Beatles

I never saw the Beatles live but have seen many cover bands.  Liverpool Live ranks up there among the very best.

Off the Hook Comedy Club is a usual stop on my Florida trips. This time we saw comedian Karen Mills. A comedian with 30 years of entertaining audiences, Mills kept the crowd laughing through her set. A very funny comedian, Mills also has an interesting story.Karen Mills

At only 5’2″, she was a long shot to play basketball. Defying the odds, in 1981 while playing for UT Chattanooga, she led the nation in assists and became the first Division 1 first team All-American in her school’s history. Her #12 uniform was retired, and she was inducted into UT Chattanooga’s Basketball Hall of Fame.

I also watched my brother-in-law play pickleball. My sister should have played, but she is recovering from a broken foot.

Lastly, some of the most fun was spending time with family. Whether watching game shows, catching up or simply relaxing poolside, I cherish those times. I also spent quality time with their dog, Abby. dog
