My husband and I celebrated our two-year wedding anniversary over the weekend. We decided to spend part of the day in Philadelphia — where we met, got engaged and got married.

Our first stop was the Philadelphia Museum of Art to check out the limited Modern Times exhibit. Through Sept. 3, the exhibit highlights American art 1910–1950. The works from artists like Georgia O’Keefe and Edward Hopper reflect the technological and cultural changes of the early 20th century. We got engaged at the museum, so the visit felt especially nostalgic on our anniversary.

As I’ve mentioned in previous blogs, my husband and I enjoy trying new food and restaurants. We tend to look to Philadelphia magazine’s seasonal 50 Best Restaurants list for top places in and around the city. After browsing the list, we decided on Fond. Located in the booming culinary neighborhood of East Passyunk, Fond serves contemporary American cuisine.

Since it was a special occasion — and we were hungry — we opted for the seven-course tasting menu. We’re both fairly adventurous eaters, so we let our waiter craft the menu for us. The meal overall was incredible, though a few standouts included the tuna tartare, grilled octopus and pork belly. Between the service, atmosphere and cuisine, Fond was the perfect choice for an anniversary celebration.
