I can’t believe it is almost August and I haven’t gone to the shore nearly enough this summer. Unfortunately, I don’t have a beach house, but, fortunately, I have friends that do … and staying at the beach all summer can get pretty lonely. Last weekend one of my best friends invited me to stay with her for her last weekend at the beach, and it was an offer I couldn’t refuse.

I’ve been going to Ocean City, New Jersey, my entire life. By now I have cultivated a solid list of my favorite must-see stops that make for the perfect beach trip.
The first is Brown’s Restaurant. They are known for the famous signature homemade donuts as well as other delicious breakfast items. This gem is found directly on the boardwalk, but I recommend going early — the line gets pretty long!

Then, of course, there is the boardwalk itself. It has something for everyone, whether it’s clothes, food, toys, candy, rides or even pet hermit crabs. Personally, I have made it an important tradition to get fried Oreos before I leave.

Lastly, there is PensaBeach. When I first stumbled across this beach, I thought it must be private or even closed because it is so secluded, but in reality it is a perfect oasis. It is beautiful, peaceful and tucked away; the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the beach.

Luckily, there are still a few more weeks left in the summer, and I don’t plan on wasting them!
