As a teenager I spent a lot of my spare time at video arcades. Last week I relived those times a bit at Emporium.
A large arcade bar, Emporium puts a modern twist on old arcades by adding several cool elements. With plenty of choices of games and beverages, it would take several visits to try all of them. It also hosts live events, deejays, game tournaments and more.
Last week I met a couple friends at Emporium Logan Square, one of Chicago’s three locations. In addition to Chicago, Emporium is in New Orleans, Las Vegas, Oakland and San Francisco.
After perusing the extensive beverage selection, I settled on triple jam cider, featuring strawberries, blackberries and raspberries. Semi-sweet yet slightly tart, it was bursting with flavor and quite refreshing on a hot summer night.

I was never very good at pinball, and the passing years haven’t helped me, but I had fun trying to keep up with my friends. I did much better at video games like NBA Jam and Ms. Pac-Man. I also made a couple nice shots at pool.
I enjoyed my night at Emporium. I must admit, though, I want to go back and have another crack at pinball.
