As we pulled into the small town of Schwangau, we were greeted by two breathtaking castles, Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau. To our delight, our hotel, AMERON Neuschwanstein Alpsee Resort & Spa, was situated between the two. The best part? I had views of both castles from my room.
The staff welcomed us with smiles and helped bring our bags into the hotel. Our rooms weren’t quite ready yet, so we had a couple minutes to look around the stunning lobby. Once our rooms were ready, we headed up to get settled in and enjoy some downtime before we explored the area.
AMERON Neuschwanstein Alpsee Resort & Spa is split into three different buildings, all connected by hallways. I was in the Lisl building, closest to the lobby. When I got to my junior suite, I wasn’t expecting the modern and spacious interior. Walking through the front door, there was a single bath on the left-hand side and a bedroom on the right. Continuing through the room, there was a spacious living room with a couch, desk, mini refrigerator, space for luggage, a flat-screen TV and a small balcony overlooking Hohenschwangau Castle.
Within the bedroom lies a full bathroom on the right side with a standalone shower, a vanity area and a bathtub. The best part of the bathroom was the view of Neuschwanstein Castle. The tub was in the perfect position for a relaxing bath with a beautiful view — unfortunately, I didn’t have enough time to take one myself.
The bedroom featured a king-sized bed, a flat-screen TV, and a little sitting area with a chair and a small table. It also had plenty of natural light thanks to the giant window and skylight. One night it rained and it was so relaxing falling asleep to the sound of the rain hitting the skylight.
My favorite part about the room was I could turn the lights on and off from the comfort of my bed. I had just started a new book and was reading before bed, so it was nice to not have to get out of bed to turn off the lights. Guests staying at AMERON Neuschwanstein can enjoy a free buffet breakfast during the length of their stay. Guests also have access to the resort’s restaurants, 4 elements spa, sauna, indoor pool and fitness center.
AMERON Neuschwanstein is the perfect place to call home while exploring Hohenschwangau Castle and Neuschwanstein Castle, as both are within walking distance. There is also a small town with shops, restaurants and Museum of Bavarian Kings next to the hotel.
