The American Kennel Club Museum of the Dog reopens its doors at a new location Feb. 8, in New York City. The specialty museum is home to the world’s largest collection of canine fine art.

The new museum features art from famous dog artists, a two-story glass vitrine encasing rare porcelains and bronzes and a library on all things canine. The first exhibition is “For the Love of All Things Dog” and features selections from the museum and the AKC’s private collection.

New technology brings an interactive element to the museum. A Find Your Match kiosk takes visitors’ photos and matches them with a look-alike dog breed. Meet the Breeds touchscreen tables allow visitors to peruse breed information with ease. A virtual dog tour guide takes children through their own museum experience via an app.

“It is exciting to bring this collection back to New York City,” said Alan Fausel, executive director, AKC Museum of the Dog. “This museum is a beautiful ode to man’s best friend and we are thrilled to bring these pieces and exhibitions to new audiences.”

The previous American Kennel Club Museum of the Dog was located in West St. Louis County, Missouri.
