American Airlines is adding new perks — on the ground and in the air — for business travelers. Among them are expedited security clearance and better seats.

Business travelers who book seats on American Airlines’ economy class will now be seated toward the front of the plane, in seats normally reserved for passengers who pay an additional fee. Business travelers can also enjoy priority status when clearing security, at check-in, during boarding and during weather delays or other operational slowdowns.

These benefits are extended to passengers flying on American Airlines partners British Airlines, Iberia and Finnair, so long as the flights are booked through American.

These benefits are being extended in the wake of the Boeing 737 Max groundings and a work slowdown stemming from mechanics union activities.

As a result, American canceled some flights and consolidated operations in order to maintain service for valuable business travelers, and “there hasn’t been a very material change in the completion factor for corporate customers,” says Don Casey, head of revenue management, American Airlines.
