Air India and JFK Millennium Partners, the company selected by Port Authority of New York & New Jersey to build and operate JFK’s new Terminal 6, will operate out of the new, world-class terminal beginning in 2028.
Air India will also launch its first flagship Maharaja Lounge in Terminal 6, spanning 9,100 square feet overlooking the terminal’s commercial concourse. The new lounge will bring Air India’s distinctive blend of Indian hospitality, comfort and amenities to customers on the U.S. East Coast. The news follows the recent opening of the airline’s signature Maharaja Lounge at San Francisco International Airport.

In addition to Air India, 16 other Star Alliance international carriers were named to operate out of Terminal 6, including Air Canada, Avianca, Lufthansa, SWISS, TAP Air Portugal, Aer Lingus, JetBlue, Icelandair and Cathay Pacific.
Terminal 6 will open in two phases, the first set of gates opening this year with the remaining gates and terminal completion expected by 2028. The new terminal will feature 10 gates (nine of which will accommodate widebody aircraft), an automated baggage-handling system, seamless connectivity to Terminal 5, new ground transportation center, one of the longest departures curbs at JFK, new shared customs/border control facility with Terminal 5, and more.
Currently, Air India operates out of JFK’s Terminal 4.
