JFK Millennium Partners, the company building and operating Port Authority of New York & New Jersey’s John F. Kennedy International Airport’s new Terminal 6, and Air India recently announced the airline chose T6 for its operations beginning in 2028, aligning Air India with other Star Alliance member carriers in the new terminal. Sixteen leading international carriers have now selected T6 for their operations, including Air Canada, All Nippon Airways, Austrian Airlines, Avianca, Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa, Swiss International Air Lines and TAP Air Portugal.

Following the recent opening of its signature Maharaja Lounge at San Francisco International Airport, Air India will launch its first flagship Maharaja Lounge at JFK Terminal 6, boasting 9,100 square feet post-security and overlooking the terminal’s commercial concourse. The lounge will bring Air India’s distinctive blend of Indian hospitality, comfort and amenities.

Air India currently operates daily, non-stop services from Terminal 4 to Delhi (DEL) and Mumbai (BOM), on flagship Airbus A350 and Boeing 777 aircraft with new or upgraded cabin interiors. Current operations will continue until the airline’s planned move in 2028.

Terminal 6 opens in two phases, with the first set of gates opening this year and terminal completion expected by 2028. T6 is a hallmark of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s $19 billion transformation of the airport, including two new terminals, two expanded and modernized terminals, a new ground transportation center, and a new simplified roadway network. T6 is also designed to deliver a guest‑focused travel experience, with features including short walking distances from the security checkpoint to all gates, modern amenities, intuitive wayfinding and a curated shopping and dining program reflecting New York. T6 will boast more than 60 pieces of permanent art. The construction also prioritized sustainably sourced building materials, rooftop solar power and energy-efficient systems and operating practices, with sustainability certifications for LEED (silver or gold), Envision and SITES underway.

Air India has been undergoing a comprehensive transformation since its privatization in 2022, focusing on fleet renewal, new cabin products, digital transformation, operational enhancements and elevated customer experiences. The airline placed record orders for 600 aircraft and continues to invest significantly in technology platforms.
