With the opening of Pullman Tokyo Tamachi, AccorHotels reached its milestone 1,000th hotel in Asia Pacific. The chain has more than 200,000 rooms in the region, which now accounts for 30 per cent of the brand’s rooms worldwide.
“For the first half of 2018, 72 per cent of global room openings for the group were in Asia Pacific,” said Michael Issenberg, CEO, Asia Pacific, AccorHotels. “We currently open, on average, a new hotel in Asia Pacific every three days, but our goal is to move this to a new hotel every second day by 2020 and one hotel per day globally.”
Over the past three years, the brand doubled in size in the region. The growth is a combination of strategic acquisitions and organic growth. AccorHotels has more hotels in progress in the region than any other business rival, according to the company.
“I am proud that we currently employ over 100,000 people across the region and will continue to provide incredible career opportunities for more people, especially in developing countries where tourism is vital to economic growth,” Issenberg said.
