Golf courses are a dime a dozen in Florida, but five new and redesigned courses across the state are on the horizon, bringing elevated experiences, state-of-the-art designs and welcome challenges.

Cabot Citrus Farms, Brooksville

Opened early last year about an hour from Tampa, Cabot Citrus Farms boasts not one but four courses alongside practice facilities. One of the two 18-hole courses was designed by Kyle Franz, highlighting some of the world’s widest fairways and expansive greens. Cabot Citrus Farms features sandy soil, 80-foot elevation changes and more. In total, expect two 18-hole courses (Karoo and Roost); one 10-hole course (The Squeeze); an 11-hole, par-3 course (The Wedge); new clubhouse; and elevated practice facilities with a putting course spanning 2 acres and a double-ended driving range with TrackMan technology.

Old Shores, near Panama City Beach

Located just 30 minutes north of Panama City Beach, Old Shores officially began construction earlier this year. A course designed by Tom Doak is slated to open first, followed by another currently in design. The Old Shores community, developed by Michael Keiser, will not only offer world-class courses, but also a hotel, restaurants and homesites. The first 18-hole course will celebrate the area’s terrain of rivers, rolling hills, dunes, open savannas and towering pines. Preview play is slated to be available later this year, with a grand opening expected fall 2027. A short course is also in the works.

Pandion Club, Estero

Former Corkscrew Golf Club in Estero will officially transform into a private golf facility this year, becoming Pandion Club. Slated to open late 2027, Pandion Club will feature a course designed by Kyle Philips. Golfers can expect sand-based soil, native grasses and wetlands, and tightly mown fairways. The course is set to be a par-71 course, while the entire club will also offer many tee options, a driving range and short-game practice facilities.

Renovations to the existing course begin Oct. 5, in which the course’s 105 acres of grass and topsoil will be removed to make way for a brand-new, state-of-the-art course. The redesign is scheduled to take about 10 months, and will see hole 10 go from a par 4 to a par 5, as well as hole 11 straightened out to make it a drivable par 4, which the course currently doesn’t have.

“The big one is going to be the green on holes 12 and 14. It’s a Biarritz green and it’s actually a shared green between the holes, so that green goes from about 6,000 square feet from what it is currently to about 22,000 square feet,” said Thayer Kern, general manager, Deerwood Country Club.

Hole 18 will become the longest par 5 in Northeast Florida and the entire course will be the second-longest course in Northeast Florida after TPC Sawgrass. For members and golfers, the club will open its short course, a six-hole course spanning 60- and 90-yard shots, July 11.

The redesign marks phase two of the club’s renovations, following a brand-new pool and deck, and new tennis and pickleball courts.

Shell Bay Club and Resort, Hallandale Beach

This exclusive community boasts a recently opened Greg Norman-designed championship course spanning 18 holes, as well as a separate nine-hole, par 3 course. The 18-hole course is one of the longest golf courses in South Florida and the newest championship golf course to debut in South Florida in more than 25 years. In 2027, the community will also welcome a 60-key resort and 108 bespoke residences managed by Auberge.
