It’s officially National Golf Month, and with U.S. golf participation on the rise, many look to world-renowned golf courses around the world. In the next year, some courses will host some exceptional events, from the 2027 Ryder Cup to a PGA Tour Championship.

We’ve named four golf courses to watch for travelers wishing to find their next bucket-list course:

Maften Hall in Northumberland, United Kingdom

Northumberland’s first and only 5-star hotel recently unveiled a major golf expansion centered around The Douglas, a brand-new, 18-hole championship course blending nine newly designed holes with the estate’s historic Standing Stone nine. The hotel also boasts new facilities like The Academy (opening mid-August) at the driving range; a new simulator and teaching bay; 15 Toptracer bays; a short-game practice area and all-weather, 18-hole putting course; a Himalayas-style, oversized putting green; and new irrigation system.

This fall, Asheville welcomes the PGA TOUR for the first time in 80 years with the inaugural Biltmore Championship Asheville (Sept. 17–20) at Jack Nicklaus-designed The Cliffs at Walnut Cove. Part of the FedExCup Fall, this new tournament will see more than 100 players and thousands of spectators to the Blue Ridge Mountains, marking a massive milestone moment for golf in Western North Carolina.

Adare Manor in Co. Limerick, Ireland

Already one of the most prestigious courses in the world, Adare Manor will go down in history when it hosts the 2027 Ryder Cup. This year, travelers have the rare chance to experience The Golf Course at Adare Manor before the event. The Tom Fazio-designed championship course reopened this season following new enhancements, pairing immaculate greens with views of River Maigue and Manor House.

Camiral in Girona, Spain

Located just an hour from Barcelona, Camiral is one of Europe’s leading golf and wellness resorts and was recently confirmed as the host of the 2031 Ryder Cup. To prepare for the event, the property is investing in its Stadium and Tour courses, including upgrades designed to elevate year-round playing conditions. Camiral is also home to Spain’s only PGA National Golf Academy. In the past, the Stadium Course has hosted the Open de España and DP World Tour Events.

Get an Insider’s Look at Napa Valley’s Busiest Season

If you haven’t been to wine country during harvest season, have you really been to wine country? Vineyards buzz with workers plucking sun-ripened clusters while the winery hums with sorting tables and presses gently extracting precious juice and tannins. In the cellar, the air is perfumed with an intoxicating cuvée of baking bread and grapes as vats alive with bubbling juice are tended to by the winemaker’s watchful eyes. For wine lovers, the experience is nothing short of magical. It also offers a newfound appreciation to the hard work behind every bottle in a way that simply bellying up to a tasting bar never could. Napa Valley has perfected the art of the harvest celebration with festivals, dinners, tastings, hands-on experiences and, of course, the opportunity to literally feel grapes between your toes.
