Fincantieri, one of the world’s largest shipbuilding groups, officially won orders for three new cruise ships from Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, which encompasses Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises. The nearly $2 billion deal is a major move for the brand.
These three next-generation cruise ships strengthen the long-standing relationship between Fincantieri and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings. Each ship will be a sister ship to the latest vessels already delivered by Fincantieri for these three brands.
Currently, deliveries are slated between 2036 and 2037, with all three ships to boast advanced technologies, sustainably implemented facets and high-comfort amenities. All three are yet to be named.
The vessel assigned to Oceania will be of the line’s Sonata design, while the Regent Seven Seas Cruises vessel will mark the fourth in the Prestige series of its ultra-luxury ships. The ship for Norwegian Cruise Line will be a sister ship to the line’s latest newbuilds and also the largest of the three ships.
This recent order brings Fincantieri’s combined orderbook from Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings to 17 new ships across three brands.
“This milestone reflects the core elements of our strategy, as per our 2026–2030 Industrial Plan: leadership, innovation, and the capability to transform the global shipbuilding industry,” said Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO and managing director, Fincantieri. “These next‑generation ships will bring together advanced technology, design excellence, a strong focus on sustainability, energy efficiency and passenger experience, and the industrial strength of our shipyards, reaffirming Fincantieri’s role at the forefront of cruise innovation.
Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ second and third Prestige-class ships are scheduled to enter service in 2030 and 2033. Seven Seas Prestige, the first of the Prestige-class ships, debuts in December 2026, measuring 40 percent larger than previous Regent ships but accommodating only 10 percent more guests for added luxury and space.
Seven Seas Prestige begins service Dec. 13 when it departs on a 14-night trip from Barcelona to Miami. The ship’s season is set to end with sailings along the coast of France and the Iberian Peninsula.
As for Oceania Cruises, Oceania Sonata will hit the waters in August 2027. Oceania’s Sonata-class ships are about one-third larger than its previous vessels and include new suite categories, larger and new dining venues, and redesigned upper deck cabins. Its maiden voyage sails Aug. 7, 2027, from Rome to Trieste in the Mediterranean on a 14-day cruise.

Mar 13, 2026Revive and Relax at Finisterra Spa at Martinhal Sagres Family Beach Resort
Most visitors remember Portugal’s Algarve for its 100-plus miles of golden, sun-drenched beaches. We remember this southern coast of Portugal for the quiet, white-washed villages and dramatic cliffs of its far western corner. And for the superbly serene Finisterra Spa at Martinhal Sagres Family Beach Resort, where we first discovered what a massage and facial could do for aching shoulders and faces parched from days of hiking along the sun-washed clifftops. Neither I nor my husband, Tim, had been fans of spas before that trip, but Finisterra made us believers.

Carved from the honeyed limestone of Matera’s ancient sassi, Vetera Matera is the only 5-star luxury albergo diffuso in the Relais & Châteaux portfolio, unfolding across restored cave dwellings within UNESCO-listed Sassi di Matera. After nearly eight years of meticulous restoration, the property reactivates a historic portion of Sasso Barisano, integrating contemporary hospitality into architecture shaped by human excavation since the Paleolithic era.
