New Orleans’ Garden District recently welcomed two new boutique hotels, offering travelers a quintessential Big Easy experience. The Garden District Hotel and The Blackbird Hotel, opened June 2025 and late 2024, respectively, redefine boutique hospitality in New Orleans.

Debuting last November, this hotel combines the old-world mystique of the French Quarter with Uptown elegance. Formerly a children’s home dating back centuries, this hotel embodies a bold black exterior. Within are just 13 guestrooms, each unique and layered in tone, texture and curated restraint. The hotel’s most elevated room, the premium suite, boasts a private balcony and thoughtful in-room experiences.

Amenities include a pool surrounded by lush greenery with poolside fare available, as well as a courtyard where guests are invited to sink into plush loungers while sipping on craft cocktails. Inside, a moody lobby bar awaits, complete with warm lighting and signature cocktails. Blackbird Café, meanwhile, serves local brews from Cherry Coffee Roasters, custom teas and small bites.

The Garden District Hotel

Just opened, this design-forward hotel has a special take on Southern hospitality beneath the oaks. Heralding in a new era of modern luxury with rich history, this hotel spans 47 retreat-like guestrooms. The District Suite, the hotel’s most expansive suite, is a two-story space with vaulted ceilings, secondary loft living room and spacious layout. Some other select accommodations come with private balconies overlooking oak-lined streets.

Guests can soak in the hotel’s heated saltwater pool, cool off with a tasty tipple at New Orleans’ only swim-up bar, play lawn games and relax in stylish cabanas.
