Located in the Litchfield Hills of Connecticut, Winvian Farm has a unique approach to upscale luxury. You can choose from quirky (the Helicopter cabin has a fully restored 1968 Sikorsky Sea King Pelican HH3F helicopter parked inside, with the rotor blades fused into the ceiling; while the Treehouse cottage is suspended 35 feet above the floor of the forest) or sublime (the round bedroom of the Maritime cottage’s lighthouse is lined in teak while the bathroom has a barrel roof; the Connecticut Yankee cottage has colossal rock slabs a la Stonehenge outlining the tub and enormous open shower, while the sleeping area includes a herringbone fireplace, exposed beams and beautiful antiques).

Adding to the Relais & Chateaux, AAA Five Diamond property’s inherent magic are the new Fireballs installations, created by artist and architect Sandra Vlock. The functional art, described by Vlock as “contemporary campfires,” are metalwork spheres filled with glowing fires positioned on the upper terrace and in one of the adjoining meadows, surrounded by chairs that invite guests to sit close and enjoy a mug of hot chocolate or a glass of wine.
