Stateroom showers on cruise ships are notoriously small. That is until Viking Ocean Cruises proved showers could be far better and not cost a fortune.

The Viking Star introduced entry-level accommodations with oversized showers, repeated on the Viking Sea and Viking Sky. They are simply marvelous. Chairman and chief executive officer Torstein Hagen prides himself on showers you can turn around in. The square footprint of the showers ensures great mobility while the ample dimensions make it possible to extend your limbs. Best of all, the premium glass enclosure stays out of the way without a curtain blowing in and clinging to you. While other ships offer larger showers, they often come at higher price points.

Luxury ships are often too concerned with including a bathtub, and they often skimp on the size of the shower itself. Viking did away with tubs and dedicates the space to what matters most. Up from the standard veranda staterooms, Viking showers only get larger and tubs are added in certain suites.

Viking bathrooms are superb, even at the lowest category with glassed-in showers, sleek styling, plenty of storage, Freyja toiletries and heated tile floors and towel racks. Each shower includes a shelf for toiletries and a retractable clothesline for hanging wet clothes.
