Sofitel New York plans to treat, not trick, guests this April Fool’s Day with a fun-filled Poisson d’Avril (April Fish) theme at its renowned Gaby Brasserie Française restaurant and lounge.
On April 1, the stylish Midtown hotel, within easy reach of Manhattan’s most celebrated attractions, is taking the trickster holiday back to its French roots with an evening filled with surprise-and-delight treats at each table in Gaby Brasserie Française from 6–10 p.m. As part of the French tradition, one lucky Gaby diner per table will unknowingly be tagged with a paper fish taped to his or her back. Rather than become the butt of a joke, the tagged diner who discovers a fish on their back will receive a pleasant surprise.
Surprise treats might include appetizers to share, various desserts or glasses of wine. Three tables will receive a complimentary bottle of wine and one table will receive a gift certificate for dinner for two valued at $100.
Guests are encouraged to share their favorite April Fool’s pranks on Sofitel New York’s Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+ and Yelp with the hashtags #GabyNYC and “WishForAFish.
