Those looking for an escape from the cold this winter have a new option on Mexico’s Riviera Maya with the debut of Thompson Playa del Carmen in the heart of downtown.
The first-of-its-kind hotel in Playa, Thompson Playa del Carmen includes two distinct locations. Now open, the 92-room main hotel is situated on lively La Quinta Avenida — Playa’s two-mile, pedestrian-only thoroughfare, lined with an extensive selection of shopping and dining options. The intimate Beach House is slated to open on the shoreline of the Caribbean Sea just a few blocks away from the main hotel in early 2016 and will offer a Bohemian-inspired, villa-style guest experience.
The lifestyle hotel offers two restaurants, boasting signature seafood dishes as well as a number of Mexican-inspired cocktails, such as The Kali, featuring jalapeno-infused tequila, fresh-squeezed orange and lime juices and agave nectar.
The CATCH rooftop restaurant transforms from dinner venue to dance party at night, featuring DJ sets and live performances from local talent. Adjacent to CATCH on the hotel’s rooftop, an infinity pool area offers in-water loungers and island perches for the ultimate pool day.
In addition to newly-opened Thompson Playa del Carmen in Riviera Maya, Mexico, the Thompson Hotels portfolio of lifestyle hotels includes The Cape in Los Cabos, Mexico; Gild Hall and Smyth in New York; Thompson Chicago; Thompson Toronto; Belgraves in London; and Thompson Miami Beach.
