With conservative estimates suggesting at least 10 percent of the U.S. population can trace their ancestry to Ireland, The Shelbourne’s genealogy butler offers a popular service for guests interested in finding their roots.
The Dublin hotel works with Irish genealogy expert Helen Kelly to give interested guests a jumpstart when it comes to tracing their Irish ancestry.
Kelly, one of Ireland’s leading accredited genealogists and a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists in Ireland, has also served as a consultant genealogist at some of Ireland’s national repositories, such as the Genealogical Office, National Library of Ireland and National Archives of Ireland.
In the course of a one-hour advisory session, Kelly assesses the information on a family’s Irish emigrants and draws up a practical research plan.
Guests may reserve a session with The Shelbourne’s genealogy butler with a confirmed hotel reservation. Participating guests receive an online assessment form to complete prior to your arrival so Kelly can initiate the research process.
