The 152-year-old Hotel de la Paix relaunched as The Ritz-Carlton Hotel de la Paix, Geneva, following a multimillion dollar renovation. The property is situated on the shore of Lake Geneva, with views of Jet d’Eau and Mont Blanc. The historic hotel was frequently home to significant events and high-profile guests.

The renovation honors the hotel’s heritage while adding modern design and functionality. New public areas boast design centered on art, time and nature, as well as the destination. The 74 guestrooms and 14 suites feature new modern designs and floor-to-ceiling windows. The presidential suite is named after regular guest Grace Kelly and features an Art Deco design with gold leaf gilding.

On-site dining includes Fiskebar, a Nordic-fusion concept; Living Room Bar & Kitchen for all-day dining and regional favorites; and the Philippe Pascoët chocolate shop for handmade confections by the legendary chocolatier.

“It is an honor to bring The Ritz-Carlton experience to Switzerland, here with an iconic luxury hotel that has borne witness to a multitude of historic world events,” said Jenni Benzaquen, vice president, luxury brands, Europe, Marriott International. “The Ritz-Carlton is proud to embark on a new chapter in Geneva, infusing the brand’s legendary service standards into this beautifully renovated hotel.”

In Malaysia, The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi opened on the Malaysian island. The oceanfront resort faces the Andaman Sea and offers an immersive experience. The 70 guestrooms, 15 suites and 29 villas reflect Malay architecture and integrate the surrounding jungle. Amenities and offerings include unique experiences, such as guided jungle walks and night market tours; four distinct dining venues; the Ritz Kids program; health and fitness facilities; and The Ritz-Carlton Spa.

Mindfulness City in Kingdom of Bhutan Unveiled as Future Economic Hub

It opened its borders to international visitors in 1974 and, while tourism definitely increased, residents are enduring “light” rush-hour traffic in Thimphu, its capital city, as the only Asian capital without traffic lights.

Amansara Review

It was more than a car journey; it was a transition between worlds. At our first hotel in Siem Reap, huge coaches constantly pulled up outside the lobby to deposit or receive international tour groups; we departed in very different style, in a 1965 black Mercedes limousine once owned by King Sihanouk. The mundanities of mass tourism were left behind. We progressed through the chaotic Cambodian streets in regal comfort and soon arrived at a solid gate.
