Arizona Food Tours offers five itineraries for lunch and dinner tours with tastings at six food emporiums, different on each tour. You might stop at a Western saloon, a fancy Mexican restaurant, a pizza place, a wine bar, a cozy bistro, a popular burger joint or a store where you’ll sample flavored olive oils and balsamic vinegars.

Each tour includes a wine sampling, and at other stops alcoholic drinks can be ordered for an additional charge. Are you a vegetarian or on a restricted diet? Tell the company about it when you book, and in most cases it will find a way to accommodate you.

The tours draw visitors from 15 countries and all 50 states. For many it serves not only as a culinary tour but also as an orientation to the city as guides offer their insider knowledge on places to see and experiences not to miss. They also sprinkle in tidbits of history, like tales of the Hohokam civilization that vanished here more than 500 years ago and the fact that Scottsdale was first named Orangedale for the citrus groves its founders planted here.

Lunch tours run daily at a cost of $54. Dinner tours are available Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday for $74.
