Business travelers worry most about missing flights, delays, cancelations and jet lag, according to a study by Booking.com. Ninety-three percent of business travelers feel stressed at some point during international business trips.
The top stressors included travel logistics, airport woes and cultural barriers.
“While business travel has so many positives, including the opportunity to experience new cultures, broaden horizons and the chance to meet colleagues face-to-face, the logistics of business travel can get in the way,” said Ripsy Bandourian, director of product development, Booking.com. “Airport queues and delays, the accommodation at your destination lacking home comforts and lack of personal time can add a layer of unnecessary stress.”
Missed flights were anxiety causing for 32 percent of those surveyed; flight delays and cancelations for 47 percent, jetlag for 42 percent and security lines for 26 percent. Many reported feeling stressed at arrival. Twenty-six percent said they were concerned about language barriers, 22 percent about lost luggage and 13 percent about cultural differences.
