A Doctor in Your Pocket
After his father suffered a medical emergency during a European cruise, a Florida physician decided to come up with a way for travelers to take their medical history on the road and thereby speed treatment. The result? PassportMD, a wallet-sized CD-ROM that stores a patient’s records in a simple format accessible by any Windows-based computer. Among the data that the PassportMD service can acquire and store are medications, blood type, allergies and emergency contact information, as well as specific records such as EKGs, echocardiograms and stress tests. For $64.95 a year, PassportMD will provide two copies of the CD-ROM and update them twice annually. For more information, visit www.passportmd.com
