Hong Kong Completes Smoking Ban
Hong Kong’s move to become a smoke-free city is one step closer. Since January 2007, smoking indoors has been banned in most bars and restaurants and in many public spaces in Hong Kong, however more than 800 bars, saunas, nightclubs and mahjong parlours were able to obtain an exemption for the first two and half years. While owners of mahjong parlours in particular have been protesting about the possible loss of business when the ban goes ahead, it looks set to take full effect from July 1.
