SAS added new in-flight high-speed WiFi for its short- and medium-haul planes. It claims the service is “more stable, stronger and faster than many other solutions found in the industry today.”

The connection is now available on 28 short- and medium-haul routes, with around 40 more planes to be outfitted by September. The carrier says “the vast majority of its fleet” will be fitted with the technology by the first quarter of 2020.

Customers traveling with SAS Plus fares, as well as Eurobonus Diamond and Gold members, have free access to the service. Silver Eurobonus members have complimentary access until Aug. 19.

Customers with Go fares pay €4.90 per flight. All passengers will access the SAS portal through the airline’s app with free access to the carrier’s website and online magazine.

SAS says the service is fast enough for movie streaming, social media use, sending images and answering emails.

“We have made a big investment that will ensure that our customers enjoy the best inflight experience. Together with our recent fleet order, this will strengthen SAS’ competitiveness even further and maintain our strong position in the Scandinavian market,” said Rickard Gustafson, president and CEO, SAS. “Fast and stable WiFi connection is a service passengers ask for today. Regardless if you want to watch a movie, stay connected with friends and family or work onboard, you require a reliable high-speed connection. By this investment we continue to deliver on our promise to make life easier for our customers.”

Meet 5 Women Shaping the Brixen/South Tyrol Travel Experience

Although a destination’s terrain, cuisine and cultural attributes always draw travelers in, it is often the people they meet that make the trip an enduring memory rather than a box to be checked off. It’s a job responsibility that people working around the Plose and adjoining town of Brixen (in Italy’s Trentino-Alto Adige region) take seriously. This is even more true for five women dedicated to introducing visitors to new aspects of the time-honored ski, leisure and hiking mountain destination in the Dolomites.
