G Adventures, a Toronto-based tour group, announced a new sailing trip along Sri Lanka’s east coast, following the launch of its industry-first sailing trip along the south coast of the island nation in February.
The new sailing trip is meant to complement the existing itinerary, already 90 per cent sold out in its first season. Trips will travel the east coast from July to September, before heading back to the south coast from November to April.
The south tour offers more on-land excursions, while east coast itineraries will feature more secluded destinations with some of Sri Lanka’s best snorkelling opportunities — including snorkelling in Pigeon Island National Park. Both itineraries are timed for whale-watching season.
Both tours take place on a brand-new 52-foot catamaran, carrying up to eight travellers. The vessel has four double/twin cabins with en-suite bathrooms, portholes and pop-up skylights. The crew will include a local chief experience officer, skipper and cook on board.
