Known worldwide for horse racing and the famed Yaddo artist’s retreat, historic Saratoga Springs address The Adelphi Hotel is set to reopen July 1, just in time for the start of the racing season July 21. The hotel is boutique in stature and sparkling with touches that include a 1,200-square-foot, glassed-in conservatory with blue touches in the décor that mimic the sky overhead.Adelphi Hotel

Offering 32 sumptuously appointed guestrooms, the reimagined hotel was built in the late 1800s. The property’s recent multimillion-dollar overhaul includes a new ballroom and quirky restaurant, named The Blue Hen in honor of a nearby historic establishment once known as The Blue Toed Hen. Rooms have 11-foot ceilings, and there’s a grand staircase sweeping upward from the entrance lobby. The hotel’s famous bar has been renamed Morrissey’s in a nod to Saratoga resident John Morrissey. Located downtown in a central location ideal for strolling the historic surroundings, The Adelphi also boasts great outdoor spaces in beautifully landscaped gardens.

The mundanities of mass tourism were left behind. We progressed through the chaotic Cambodian streets in regal comfort and soon arrived at a solid gate.
