Qatar Airways announced it saw a 21.7 percent increase in net profits for the current fiscal year up until March 31.

The airline’s annual revenue also saw a jump by 10.4 percent. So far this year the carrier has added 10 new destinations and expanded to 196 destinations.

But experts say the recent move by neighboring countries Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the UAE and Egypt to cut ties with Qatar over alleged support of Islamist terrorist groups may affect long-term gains. The move has seen those four countries close road, sea and land access to and from Qatar.

The airline said it “continues to operate to the rest of its network as per its published schedules with day-to-day adjustments for operational and commercial efficiencies, which is standard airline practice.”
