Park Hyatt welcomes its first hotel in Austria on June 1. Park Hyatt Vienna opens in a 100-year building that once housed the Austrian Hungarian Monarchy Bank. As the only hotel in Vienna’s Golden Quarter, the new pedestrian-only shopping district, the property will feature 143 rooms and 35 suites.
Art Nouveau design highlights of the hotel include polished inlaid wood, hand-selected Italian and Greek marble, fine leathers and custom-designed carpets. The property’s pool will be located in the original bank vault. Four food and beverage options include The Bank, the main restaurant; The Pearl, serving tapas; The Lounge with afternoon tea and pastries; and The Living Room’s single-malt whiskeys and cigars. Park Hyatt Vienna also features 6,900 square feet of meeting space and the Arany Spa, with six treatment rooms, a fitness center and a separate wet area.
The hotel opening coincides with several Vienna events, including the 150th anniversary of the Ringstrasse.

It was more than a car journey; it was a transition between worlds. The mundanities of mass tourism were left behind. We progressed through the chaotic Cambodian streets in regal comfort and soon arrived at a solid gate.

I am looking out at Vietnam’s largest city from the country’s tallest building. Sitting in a comfortable chair facing the floor-to-ceiling window, I have taken in the view in daylight and darkness at dusk and dawn. It’s ever-changing and always hypnotic.
