Twenty-five years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, some original sections of the infamous bulwark remain, saved and preserved by Elmer Prost who gathered and stored them in a cement factory located in the town of Teltow, just south of Berlin.

When the factory closed recently, Prost decided to offer the approximately 4-foot by 12-foot slabs to artists interested in leaving their own mark on the Wall. Sections are available for €500, but there’s a catch. Artists have just six months to paint their rock-solid canvas before they are required to sell it on a profit-share basis or move the 3-ton entire slab to another location. The artist and/or new owner are fully responsible for moving costs.

Street artist Thierry Noir has secured five of the slabs. Museums and schools around the world have also shown interest in the historic relics. Information about the project and how to participate is online, but the website does not offer an English translation.
