Marriott International sets its sights on Asia Pacific for expansion of its select-service brands, including the distinctive Aloft, Moxy, Element and AC Hotels.
Of Marriott’s 21 brands seven are select-service, offering guests quality international hotel options at affordable prices in desirable destinations.
“Travellers will have more choices in new and exciting travel locales, especially in second and third tier cities, without ever having to compromise on the brand quality and service excellence that is the hallmark of Marriott International worldwide,” said Peggy Fang Roe, chief sales and marketing officer Asia-Pacific, Marriott International.
Popular among business travellers, the Courtyard by Marriott brand recently opened in Changsha, Tianjin and Novena, with additional openings in Zhengzhou, Shanghai, Siem Reap and Chengdu scheduled for 2018.
Known for its Best Brews programme, every Four Points by Sheraton hotel provides a unique, local experience. To come in 2018 are hotels in Auckland — the first in New Zealand — Danang and Seoul.
Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, Fairfield by Marriott spearheads Asia Pacific with eight new hotels including Fairfield Nanning Nanhu Park —the debut of the brand in Greater China — Guangzhou Tianhe Park and Hangzhou East. The brand will also debut in South Korea with the opening of Fairfield by Marriott Seoul and Busan Haeundae.
With more than 100 hotels in 19 countries around the world, Aloft Hotels is one of the fastest-growing brands in the industry. Aloft offers guests a modern, tech-focused experience, from ChatBotlr and Emoji Room Service to Live at Aloft Hotels, featuring local music performances at the hotels’ W XYZ bars.
This year, the brand made its debut in Australia with Aloft Perth, and Aloft Jakarta Wahid Hasyim in Indonesia. Openings slated for 2018 include Aloft Shanghai Zhanjiang Haike and Aloft New Delhi Aerocity.
Moxy, another distinctive select brand, debuted in Asia Pacific in 2017 with the opening of Moxy Bandung in October, followed by Moxy Tokyo Kinshicho and Moxy Osaka in November.
For eco-conscious travellers, Element Hotels are designed for sustainability while maintaining a unique sense of style. Signature Element amenities include a healthy RISE breakfast, RELAX evening reception, saline swimming pools and spacious fitness centres. Element Chongli opened in 2018, situated in the Thaiwoo Ski Resort, Zhangjiakou, China — an official venue for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games. Element Bali and Element Xiamen Haicang are slated to open in 2018.
Combining European style with Spanish roots, AC Hotels reinvents business travel with thoughtful amenities like co-working spaces, as well as buzzing tapas bars. The brand is scheduled to debut in Asia with the opening of AC Hotel Tokyo in 2020.

Apr 17, 2024Amansara Review
It was more than a car journey; it was a transition between worlds. At our first hotel in Siem Reap, huge coaches constantly pulled up outside the lobby to deposit or receive international tour groups; we departed in very different style, in a 1965 black Mercedes limousine once owned by King Sihanouk. The mundanities of mass tourism were left behind. We progressed through the chaotic Cambodian streets in regal comfort and soon arrived at a solid gate.
