It only happens once a year. From May 8–14, Montreal’s favorite shopping event — La Virée des Ateliers — will be in full swing along Rue Parthenais in city center. Approximately 100 established and emerging local artists and artisans will open their studios to the public. Known for its vibrant arts scene, the area includes former textile mills that have been converted into workshop spaces including Le Chat des Artistes and The Grover Building. On display and for sale: original fashion designs, photography, jewelry, fine art, hand blown glass, ceramics and leatherwork.
Before you head home, swing by Maison Christian Faure pastry shop in Old Montreal to stock up on “couture” pastries. The result of a collaboration between menswear designer Denis Gagnon and Chef Christian Faure, limited edition sweet treats will be available at the shop — but only until summer rolls into town.
