German airline Lufthansa became the fourth international airline to join the Transportation Security Administration’s PreCheck program. It’s the first European airline to participate in the expedited security program.
As of last month, passengers flying on Lufthansa-ticketed flights in the United States can use the fast lane through airport security via TSA PreCheck. Customers who are eligible for the program are able to continue wearing shoes, belts and outerwear as they go through the security line. They can also leave laptops and liquids in their carry-on luggage.
Juergen Siebenrock, vice president for the America, Lufthansa, said in a statement, “We are pleased in advancing this important U.S. government trusted-traveler initiative, the TSA PreCheck program. This is one of several new initiatives that adds to our commitment toward constantly enhancing the quality level of the customer experience on the overall journey with Lufthansa.”
Non-U.S. citizens can join TSA PreCheck if approved by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Global Entry program. Lufthansa joins Aeromexico, Etihad and WestJet in participating in the TSA PreCheck program.
