Inn at the 5th Review

Oregon is known for giving birth to many special brands that reflect uniquely Oregon values, from Voodoo Doughnuts, Pendleton Woolen Mills, Nike Air Soles, Kettle Brand chips and Tillamook cheese to Dave’s Killer Bread and Beaver Brand mustard. In most cases, the products are still made in Oregon.

So, it should come as no surprise the quirky university town of Eugene, located at the southern end of the Willamette Valley, about 100 miles south of Portland, is home to a uniquely urban boutique hotel — Inn at the 5th. Incorporating citified-design convenience with easy luxury, the AAA Four-Diamond hotel is also non-smoking and dog-friendly. It’s the premier property to stay at while in Eugene.

The hallmark of the hotel is the level of service. From the initial Mercedes-Benz airport shuttle service and complimentary glass of Oregon wine on check-in to complimentary cruiser bikes and shuttle service to explore town, the hotel team is available to help elevate your stay.

Guestrooms and suites are comfortably spacious, featuring local artwork, custom Italian linens, a selection of pillows and, if you desire, a borrowed selection from a complimentary Pendleton blanket menu. If you find it difficult to part with your Pendleton at the end of your stay, the hotel offers a 20 percent discount on purchase of the wool blanket.

Amenities abound at the Inn at the 5th. My suite showcased custom Italian linens, double vanities and a walk-in shower, along with Aveda toiletries. Luxurious robes hung in the closet. Two 42-inch, flat-screen televisions adorned the sides of my cozy electric fireplace. And then there was the private butler’s pantry, secured with a lock and key from the outside, great for room service and special deliveries without interruption.

Complimentary services continue with high-speed WiFi, phone calls and a complimentary mini-fridge with sodas and snacks located by the reception desk. A 24-hour fitness center is on site, as well as business nooks conveniently located on each floor. Spa services are available for a fee.

Practically next door, the partner restaurant Marché serves fresh cuisine with a French-inspired touch. Many locals consider it the best restaurant in town. The fine-dining French restaurant is part of an open-air shopping complex called Market Place, which includes treasures like the Blackboard Wine Bar and Provisions, a great place for breakfast, lunch and some shopping.

The Inn at the 5th is great for booking an executive retreat or team-building session. Meeting rooms are on site. For employee incentives, consider booking a half-day wine tour that includes wine tastings at King Estate, Silvan Ridge and Iris Vineyards. The Inn at the 5th offers a customized tasting tour of the Southern Willamette Valley that includes a bottle of red or white Sweet Cheeks wine, wine tote, Inn at the 5th wine opener and bottled water for a half-day tour in a luxury vehicle.

In 2020, a new sister hotel property called The Gordon will join Inn at the 5th. Located nearby, the brand will feature the same level of luxury and service.
