A new itinerary from Wildland Adventures explores India’s spiritual history. Planned Feb. 9–18, 2019, the Diving into Immortality excursion wraps up with two days at Kumbh Mela, or Festival of the Urn, in Allahabad — regarded as the religious capital of India by those of the Hindu faith.
The week prior to the festival, participants explore New and Old Delhi, travel to Amritsar where the Sikh religion is centered and visit the banks of the River Ganges in Varanasi and Allahabad.
The itinerary also includes a visit to the National Handicrafts Museum, options to participate in an evening Palki Sahib ceremony at the Golden Temple, a visit to a working rural farm and the chance to take part in a candlelight Aarti ceremony on the Ganges, where candles are set afloat on the water.
Luxurious lodging includes the fabulous Claridges in New Delhi and the 5-star Swarma Amritsar. Prices begin at $6,395 based on double occupancy and excluding airfare.
