With 32 aircraft, 35 destinations and more to come, Hong Kong Airlines celebrates a successful first decade. In 2016 alone, the airline took delivery of five Airbus aircraft, boasting one of the youngest fleets in the world. The airline’s average aircraft age is less than 4 years. The latest aircraft to join the fleet is an Airbus A330-300, with capacity for 285 travellers, with 30 business-class seats and 255 economy-class seats. The aircraft serves routes to Okinawa (OKA), Tokyo (NRT), Osaka (KIX), Bangkok (BKK) and Denpasar (DPS). The airline serves 35 destinations in Asia Pacific, and plans to expand to 10 new destinations later in the year. New routes include service to Yonago (YGJ), beginning Sept. 14, and Auckland (AUK), beginning Nov. 10. In the first half of the year, the airline’s traffic exceeded 3 million, showing a 12 per cent growth over last year. In response, Hong Kong Airlines plans to hire 1,000 new employees, including pilots, cabin crew and ground staff. “In the future, Hong Kong Airlines will continue introducing more value-added services and products,” said Zhang Kui, president, Hong Kong Airlines. “With our devotion to service quality, safety standard and strengthened network, we strive to provide all passengers with more travel options and a pleasant flight experience.”
