Holland America Line will feature new, innovative and reimagined culinary experiences on its ms Koningsdam, scheduled to join the fleet in February 2016. Guests of the new ship will have the opportunity to enjoy cuisine from around the world in several alternative restaurants.
“With Koningsdam, we are building upon our outstanding culinary foundation,” said Master Chef Rudi Sodamin, Holland America Line. “Our guests will truly appreciate the many inventive menu choices and the visionary innovations that will be delivered with our first Pinnacle Class ship.”
Dining options will include an immersive dining experience in the reimagined Culinary Arts Center, featuring a dramatic show kitchen and individual cooking stations for regionally inspired workshops as well as kids’ and teens’ cooking classes; a redesigned casual Lido Market with themed serving stations; relaxing cafes; an interactive culinary-themed walkway; Sel de Mer, an intimate French seafood brasserie serving a classic selection of dishes with a contemporary twist; Pinnacle Grill, offering Pacific Northwest dishes; Tamarind, featuring the culinary traditions of Southeast Asia, China and Japan; and the festive Canaletto, serving authentic Italian dishes.

At our first hotel in Siem Reap, huge coaches constantly pulled up outside the lobby to deposit or receive international tour groups; we departed in very different style, in a 1965 black Mercedes limousine once owned by King Sihanouk. The mundanities of mass tourism were left behind. We progressed through the chaotic Cambodian streets in regal comfort and soon arrived at a solid gate.
